In and out.

I forgot to mention last night my Mother did an old persons thing. She was making coffee while I was sitting typing my blog and watching her pour the water. Next thing she picks up a plastic tupperware thingy and scoops a spoonful of "sugar" into her coffee. I looked at her incredulously and I began to chuckle. My chuckle grew into laughter and that grew to a full blown convulsive tummy aching howl. My Mom stood there looking at me with a puzzled face. I guess that one had to have been here, but Mother dear had put a spoonful of bread crumbs in her coffee. LOL times 5000! I mean it does say on the side of the pot, Bread crumbs. Idem ditto on the lid in big black letters. I can t! What a good laugh.

Before that I was sitting typing and Mom took the dog out for her nightly wee before bed. Next thing Mom was searching for doggy dear and we see this flashlight probing all over. Doggy had fallen off of the deck and when Mom found her and brought her inside, she was riddled with those litte sticky burrs. Shame it took me a while to get them all out of her coat. All in all an entertaining evening! Heehee. LOL!

Time lapse to this morning, Ingrid had her Pilates lesson to go to at 08h30 and I sat at home with Mom and doggy and got struck into the new puzzle. It is coming along quite nicely and I sort of surprised myself at how many pieces I had laid. I did have extra time as Ingrid had a birthday to celebrate after class. It was the Pilates teacher's birthday.

Fast forward to some time during the Pilates class. I am sitting at the table doing the puzzle and Mother is in her room. Next thing doggy starts to make odd noises, a sort of bark but not quite. I looked up from the puzzle and there is poor Dixie on her side outside the glass door shivering and shaking. She looked like she was having an epileptic seizure. Mom got to her before I did and picked her up and carried her to the room. By now the seizure had abated and doggy seemed to be doing okay. Her heart was beating, her breathing was deep and slow but rythmical and she was reacting to stimulus. She seemed okay to me. Keep an eye on her.

Later Ingrid came in the door all chipper as instead of coffee she had had one or in her case two Mimosas (Champagne and orange juice). By this time Dixie was up and about and had eaten her food and drunk some water. Seems okay to me.

Ingrid and I got in the car and set off for the Village for the groceries. I wanted to go to the surf shop to get a leash for my Malibu board that I have loaned from those super stars at Carbonology Sport. This would prevent me from a bit of a swim if a wave threw me off. The leash that I had found in brothers loft room had broken off as the rubber was as brittle as can be. I spent about a half an hour on the fix that I had thought of at night when I was lying awake staring at the ceiling. The 3-5 am your battery is full wake up call. Apparently that is connection time with the universe. Who knows?

I fixed the leash and put it on the Malibu board. Job done!. Not much later Mother decided that she would like to go home and be close to the Vet if necessary. I am sure that she will take doggy to the vet tomorrow. She is a sweet old doggy, but maybe it is time to let go. Only Mother can decide that. Into her car with doggy and birdy and off back home. She is now safely back in her safe place with doggy and birdie. Mother in law in law and hubby popped in to check on the dog just as Mom was leaving so their timing was good. Tomorrow they will pop in for a glass of wine.

Time for my Friday evening paddle. The surfski was already on the roof of Dusty, so it was just a question of pointing her in the right direction. The wind was easterly and pretty light. This would mean paddling sort of side on into the wind on the outboud section and once again side on, but sort of with the light wind on the way back. It does feel good to "compete" against others and although I am not the front runner I aim to at least try to get in the top 5. The water temperature was pleasing and an occasional wave over the side of the surfski was a welcome cooling moment.

After the "race" we sat in the carpark and drank a cold one. Unfortunately the time keeper to whom I had given my car key high tailed it before we were back on land and he had to be called by someone as I did not know who he was. Not much later he came to hand over the 'lost' key and I could make my way back to lovely.

I was planning on braaing lamb chops with vegetables, but now that Mother had deserted us (Lol), we settled on a an easy spaghetti with pesto and mushrooms. Simpe and very tasty. Just as we were about to sit down to eat, the kids video called and we spent a good 45 minutes catching up and having a good talk. Everyone had a story to tell and it was just wonderful to see that they were both happy and seemingly content. Love that!

I guess all is said and done for this day. Granny was in and out. Okay bye!
