Mother!

14 maart 2024 - Cape St Francis, Zuid-Afrika

Today we woke with the rain pitter pattering on the roof. We lay listening to the rain and thanking the Gods for the steady rain which would do the garden good. Today would be a waiting game. What will happen?  My mother was scheduled to arrive early as per her app last night and this afternoon the garden boy was on the schedule. This rain was not forecast, but we are thankful for it. SImple life we are leading. Lying in bed listening to the rain and thinking that soon it would be light an the Coffee would taste great.

Cuppa coffee not much later and although it was drizzling the day was calm. Little wind and pretty good visibility. Now we wait for Mother. Perhaps up too early, but we rol with it! Today on the cards.. mom arriving, adjusting step mother in law in law, and gardener. Mom sent  a message that she was leaving at 09h00, so that fit in well with the plan to adjust step mother in law in law. Very sweet of the local Chiropractor Carmel BIllson to let me use her facilities to adjust step mom in law in law and wife face.

We were taxied to the office of Carmel and met her husband co-incidentally at the facility that they run and have set up. He showed us the way to the adjusting room and off we went. Ingrid first for the CTO (Cervico-thoracic junction [Overgang for the Dutch]). Quite out of the ordinary her pelvis was clear and balanced. Next in line was a nervous Mother in law in law. Funny as it may seem, she is from a very medically orientated appraoch and alternative as we are labelled is frowned upon.

To continue in this train of thought, the body often needs a helping hand and that is not always based on "science". It just needs one to step out of what one knows or what is brought up with or learned to realised that there is more between heaven and earth. I have a simple profession in terms of finding and correcting probable causes of dysfunction in the body and often that is exactly what the body is crying out for! End of the day I felt confident that we hit the nail on the head. Compensation, effect and symptom. Sorted! Time will tell. Healing is a process and yet I feel that we made major steps today. Time will tell.

We were treated to a lovely brekkie and coffee by Mother in law in law and she dropped us off safely at home. Time for Mom to arrive, almost. Ingrid went upstairs and I sat downstairs whiling away the time. No news from Mom. Later I thought that I might pop upstairs and go and have 40 winks next to wifeski, but she was sleeping like an angel. I did not have the courage to wake her, so I went back downstairs to the couch. Sleep evaded me as Mom had still not arrived. I know that she does not have bluetooth in her car, so thought that calling her was pointless.

Finally (Our word from yesterday) she called to say that she was about 20 minutes away. Thankfully! She was already 3 hours into a 1 hour journey so I was quite worried.  At least she was okay! So a little later Mom arrives. I had told her not to bring anything with her as we could get what we needed at the local supermarkt. Boy, her car had so much stuff in it. No wonder that she had left an hour later than planned. Thanks for the heads up! GRRRR. Bird and dog had survived the trip as had Mother. It took multiple trips to the car to finally be able to lock the car and put on the kettle for a bakkie tea or coffeee. Mom was installed!

I went upstairs a bit later for my ritual ZZZ and Ingrid and Mom did whatever they did. After my nooner we discussed the options for dinner and came to the conclusion that we had enough to get us through the day. Mom had only brought 20 litres of bottled water with her! Enter the garden boy.

I am not sure of his name but it is an impressive one. Garden boy came to clean the deck with the Spirits of salt that we had purchased and do a few odd jobs in the garden. The grass here does not grow here like in Holland. At home the grass requires mowing at least every week. Due to the sun and little rain it does not grow like it has been few hormones like in Holland. It does feel odd to see someone "working" and in fact doing what you could do. I am in fact proud of the man that he does what he does. He also needs a job and although I could have done it myself I take solace in helping him to provide for those that he loves.

End of the day ritual is that swim in the sea. This morning I had been to the holiday house of our friend and Carbonology Sport owners to extract a Malibu board for some surfing pleasure. The board was still strapped to Dusty's roof and she went with, as did mother, dog and wife. Crickey that was FUN with a captial F! The first wave was a bit of a bomb and I took off too late and managed to have a rough ride in the white water and yet holding on to the baord be dragged with the wave. Finally the wave lost some of it's power and I was spat out of the back and into stiller water. The rest of the session and probably 5 or 6 waves later I had had enough for the first day. Lekker mannen!

Somehow the leash that I was using had broken and the fastner around my ankle was not attached to the leash itself. Strange, but probably a use it or loose it principle. Tomorrow 'n boer maak een plan! {Tomorrow we fix it somehow}.  Time for a dip with Ingrid. The water temprature was divine. Sensory pleasure. Ingrid let that famous smile loose. Who could have imagined that after this mornings rain this afternoon would serve us an absolute peach once again. SItting in the late afternoon sun in our bikini { I identify as a bikini wearer} on a beach soaking up the surfers liefstyle we were in heaven!

At home the weather was too good to cook in the oven, so we switched on the braai. Heehee. Time to sit outside and marvel at the peace that nature can bring. The sickle Moon shining very brightly and the stars starting to show themselves and the fire providing Natures TV. Gosh we are fortunate!

We were nearly ready with that 1 chicken sosatie (kebab) so Ingrid warmed up those vegetable lasagne left overs with some mushroom. We added some of that spinach from brothers bathtub garden. Yummy.

Strange this place. Pluk de dag! (Make the most of the moment). How often have we experienced that if we sit it out, each day has something beautiful to show, be it the morning or the afteroon, or just the evening. Africa is gorgeous!
