Laze and potter.

24 februari 2024 - Cape St Francis, Zuid-Afrika

Boy the wind likes to blow here at night, but funnily enough we have become quite used to it. We were awake in the early hours not due to the wind, but just because. FInally at 05h00 I got out of bed and made my way downstairs for that cup of coffee. Frik! Load shedding. Thankfully brother has a back up plan and a kettle on the gas stove brought the necessary caffiene shot. It was not long before Ingrid joined me.

Todays plan? Zero. The wind was going to blow until the late afternoon, so it was laze and potter. I got the bucket a while later and took off down to Dusty to rid her of the dust that had collected between the door and the framework. Spic and span! Pretty satisfying to see the end product. We were expecting my twin brother to come and visit from PE, depending, so it was laze and potter.

We set off for the shop and are enjoying the newly pothole free road. It was very busy in the village. We have not seen it this busy except in the Holiday season. I was expecting it to be more busy in the supermarket, but it wasn't too bad.We had a record grocery bill, but that was to be expected as I bought a "value pack" of rumpsteak. Value pack in South Africa generally does not mean, less well looked after, but just as some say, "You get more bang for your buck". The same product, only cheaper. A special. Still no word from the bottle store about our order.

Back at Jackpot we were ready for our long awaited baked beans in tomato sauce on toast. Just like we remember it. Yum! Yes please, I will have a mint and ginger tea to go with that! Like I said to Ingrid later that is the beauty of being on sabatical. No plans, so that if one has a bad nights rest, one can catch up the next day at ones convenience. Time for a ZZZZ.

Whilst we were sleeping my twin phoned to get a sitrep (Situation Report). You have 1 missed call. I phoned him back and he asked what it was like here. It was a perfect day, blue sky and sun, just the wind, which had died down from a gale to a strong wind as was expected. He asked if there were waves (For surfing). Negative. I will see you tomorrow he said. 06h00.... don know if I must believe that, but bring it on! If the Kabouters allow it, he will spear fish a fish for tomorrow nights braai. If not, we have steak.

Laze and potter, Ingrid got back to her series on Netflix and I went to the spare room to lie on the bed with Spotify and stare out the window at the lovely blue and bright sky with my sunglasses on. The sky is actually pretty bright here and I suffer from the glare so my Oakleys did their job.

At about 15h30 we hit the beach. Boogie boarding time. 1,2,3 Go! We caught a few good waves in the realtively calm conditions. Ingrid was more conservative as to be expected as I have spent a good deal of my life in and on and under the sea. This did not limit the fun she had and once more for the so manyith time this sabattical that smile!

We lazed on the beach after our efforts as the sun was that lovely warm, but not I KILL YOU strength. What a marvelous afternoon weather wise. Who would have thought that we would be lapping it up after this mornings wind?  Home Jerome and a much needed beer and wine and that all important shower! Have I mentioned that the person that invented the shower needs to be deleted from his or her Eureka moment! I absolutely LOVE to shower and am like those with the alarm clock on the morings. Crap! Just 5 more minutes!. NO! Just 5 more minutes. Like my eldest daughter we have to fight against the dark side to turn of the tap! Problems of luxury thank goodness, but boy I don't like to turn off the shower!

Grazers for dinner please. Table for two. Thank you.

It is full moon here. Wow how beautiful amongst all of those stars. I think that I will be doing a bit of star gazing before I go to bed. Is it me or is the moon closer to earth lately. I do not know, but it is my impression. Maybe to make it a little easier for the cow to jump over the moon?
