End of the month.

29 februari 2024 - Cape St Francis, Zuid-Afrika

Testing, testing ,Testing. The Bunker vs the Master suite. It is 6-0 win for the Bunker. It is almost like one is entering another world when one enters that room. Peace and quite. Quite and Peace. I can not use the word still, but definately like someone has turned the volume off. It was odd to lay next to Ingrid and only hear ones own breathing. This bunker might just be the ticket!

I awoke in the middle of the night for have a wee and I thought, "Oh, the wind has died down". That was until i got to the bathroom and it was still howling and Jackpot was creacking and groaning a bit. Back in bed, I was worried that it was so still that I would wake Ingrid with every turn that I made. I generally turn quite a bit during the night and she seldom. WE SLEPT IN! (07h00)!

It is still a joy to awake here and get the kettle on the boil for our morning coffee. True to form we did a bit of Yoga and I can honestly say that I feel lightly less stiff than I usual. The Yoga seems to help with morning stifness (Okay stop laughing. I know who you are!) After Yoga was the good old yoghurt, meusli, blueberries and honey brekkie and another cup of delicious Jacobs (Instant coffee) to round off.

Ingrid left for her Pilates class (3rd one this week) and I had time to kill. Yesterday was payday and today was the end of the month, so I set about copying down our credit card transactions transfering the data to an excel file so that I could present the Budget to Ingrid. I was pleasantly surprised that the cost of us living here is not as high as I had expected, but it still costs money and there are also factors that we have not had to calculate in, but the Budget is fine for now. We have overspent, but that is the "start up" costs and we also had a shrot month in the business. I am not concerned as I had predicted worse.

Money versus Happiness. Happiness is winning at this stage in our lives and money has become a tool. End of the month and we are both extremely happy that we have been gifted this opportunity and are both relaxed and content. We are still not sure as to what our future choices are, but we are not planning to make any choices in the next month or so.

We did not have an afternooner! A good nights rest has done us well! Ingrid and I discussed our thoughts as to what we should do this afternoon. Yesterday and today the Beasterly Easterly had forced us to stay inside, but today we really felt the need to do something. We decided to do the groceries and then go for a walk in the wind protected Nature reserve. The sun would be less harsh and the wind had been predicted to die a tad.

This morning I had received the call from the bottle store about the case of wine that we had ordered 2 weeks ago. They had received the order and we could come and pick it up. We also needed to stock up on some more water and buy dinner . The trip to the supermarket was not much different than other trips, but it was Thursday and Thursday is chip night. I might treat myself to a packet. Ingrid had been craving Pretzels so that got thrown into the trolley. Chips, pretzels, water and grazer food... Staples! Baker Barry cracked the nod and a small Chiabatta was on the lunch menu for me.

Back home we sat and toiled at the puzzle which was nearing completion. Usually with puzzles, the hardest parts come last. I am in awe of Ingrid's puzzling abilities as she can do it upside down. Fascinating to watch. I just make her tea.  It seems that around 15h00 the energy people speak and we feel the need to do something. It was time for our walk along the Irma Booysen trail along the back of the Village. We have never actually been on this part of the village and it was an eye opener to see the village from 'the back'. It also proved to be a lovely walk when Beasterly Easterly blows. Expected walking time 1.5 hours. I think we did in a Personal Best time (PB). HEEHEE

Directly after our walk we drove to the ocean. We were clever enough to have packed outh cozzies and the boogie boards liet in the boot of the car biding their time until they are freed to surf. Ingrid has become a pro at changing in the life guard tower. As there was no one on the beach, I dropped my shorts and slipped quickly into my cozzie. Boogie boards in hand we headed for the waves. When one looks out to see, one sees a many waves rolling up to the shroeline. I could see in Ingrid's eyes that she was EYEing this and thinking that is rough and I could be in danger.

I gave her my advice of look only at the waves that are coming though at hip height. Anthing beyond that is not our concern. We only need to concentrate on 'our'waves. I have to admit that it looked intimidating, but I have almost lived in the sea, so did not appreciate that someone else would think differently. Small steps we seem to have taken, but they are HUGE steps for Ingrid. Well done Ingrid!

We had decided on 3 waves, but after her cathing the first one she was hooked. It was more than 3 waves, but no more than 10-15. I could see that she was tired and we retreated back to the beach and off home. Forgot to mention that Ingrid finished the 1500 piece puzzle, so we are ready to trade in.

I missed my Wednesday afternoon time trial paddle as the wind was too hard to put the surfski on the soft roof racks. I was afraid that I would arrive without the surfski, so chose eggs for my money (Koos eieren voor mijn geld/ did not take a chance)..

We look forward to tomorrow. Not sure what we are going to do, but we will fill in the blank canvas as we go!
