Bit of shopping

9 februari 2024 - Amsterdam, Nederland

Good morning. 6am and the day has begun. Coffee on the deck and decisions to be made. What do we do today? Instead of checking an app to see the weather forecast we cast our gaze over the view in front of us. We are weather men! Cloudy and little wind we forecast. So it would be a drive to the nearby villiage, St Francis Bay for some shopping. Top of the list was a full pice bathing suit for Ingrid as bikini does not really stay where it should in the Ocean! I was on the hunt for a network cable to join the TV into the modem so that the connection was more stable.

First things first a lovely yoghurt granola and blueberry yoghurt with local unprocessed honey and squeezed lemon juice with water to drink. Pretty interesting when one eats the right thing, the body gives off a signal... put more of this in me! Just lovely!

Into the car and off to the villiage. We started out with grocery shopping for lunch and dinner. Daddy was going to braai tonight!!! (BBQ). Next stop was the "old village" about 100m down the road. Network cable in the pocket! To the surf shops where Ingrid found a 1 pieve bathing suit to suit (Heehee). We took a meander down and around this part of the villiage as we do not normally go here. Totally thrilled with the shops in this newly discoverd part of our heaven! We grabbed a take away coffee from the Bakery and bumped into the owner whom we had met at another Coffee Shop (For the Dutch - They serve coffee and cakes, not Marijuana and Space cake).

We were in the "health shop" and we are like kids in a candy store. I want this and this and this and this and this... an so forth. Once could almost feel the purity of every product on the shelves. Divine! Strangely, even being in that shop felt like the body was purifying itself!

Next stop was another surf shop and Ingrid walked out with a Sweater and a T-shirt. "Supporting the locals" she called it, so at the next store I supported the locals. Butter dish, citrus press, coasters and a funnel to decant water from the 10l bottle to the 5l bottle. Junna, the locals are going to sleep well tonight!

I are going to kill the road peoples that manage the road from the Village to Home. There is a set of 3 speed bumps along the way and I just can not get it into my head that they are there. I must be getting old. Said speed bumps have white stripes painted on them, but that doesn't catch my attention. I am thinking of buying some yellow paint and painting a yellow stripe to warn me! On our last vacation the bumps caught me out more often that not. We have come to the stage that Navigator Ingrid becomes my Google Map and warns me of the impeding high probability of me doing a Starsky and Hutch over the speed bumps! Safely back home after a few Bennies (Benficial rays of sun) the bed called. Out for the count and no one to stop us!

Upon waking I set about rummaging through the garage to find a pair of hedge clippers. The bird bath had been overgrown by a shrub and I was going to trim it. Blimey hell. I was not told that it was a thorn bush. After the 5th or so prick the old brain got the message. I could see Bart Simpson banging his head against the wall countless times, all with the same outcome. Time to change strategy... and job done!

Hup Hup Hup! Off to the beach with the new swim suit for Ingrid. Proud of Mrs for again taking to the water and spending  a little time in the waves. After a few body surfs I walked back to her and we lay relaxing and enjoyed the beach and Ocean. Soon enough it was Wine 'o clock! Back home that lovely shower rinsed the salt of us and the pyjamas were the order of the day.

I could not wait for a little later when I would start a fire for our braai. Little windy, but depending on where one places the braai, one can limit the effects of nature trying to spoil the party. After dinner the lights went out (Load shedding - no electricity for a  hour period. Today it was a 3 time occurance. Thankfully we can see on an app when they plan to disrupt our lives). Currently (or should I say no current - heehee) I am typing using the battery of my laptop an other that that we are literally in the dark.

Tomorrow we got plans... watch this space!
