Another lovely day.

13 maart 2024 - Cape St Francis, Zuid-Afrika

We woke to the sound of the pitter patter on the roof. A lovely sound to begin the day. So peaceful and soothing. It was not raining very hard, but hard enough. This meant that the man that we had "ordered" to come and clean the deck of algae and mow the lawn and perhaps a few other odd jobs would likely not be pitching up today. We phone the mother in law in law who is the liason officer for said worker and she would contact us in about 1.5 hours time. Her view was that anything could happen, but an hour and a half later it was still too wet to warrant him coming to do anything.

Ingrid went to Pilates and I got stuck into the puzzle with a few rounds of the beaned brew. I was surprised as it seemed that the pieces were getting easier to find. Once I found a piece that fit, it seemed that the adjoining pices seemed to stick out from the crowd as I knew what I was looking for in terms of colour. Then it was down to the form. Piece by piece. I left the last section for Ingrid to complete, the Zebra's. DONE!

Around mid morning we set off in Dusty for the Village to try out the new coffee/cake shop. It is has been open for about 1 week now and I met the owners husband and he had told me about it. Worth a try and good to get out of the house in this wet weather. We arrived and the rain had seemed to have abated and the sun was trying to prick it's way through the cloud covering. The temperature was really nice though. We sat on the deck at the coffee shop and had a view to the golf course.

At one stage someone came driving up in his buggy and got out and played his ball up onto the green and sunk his putt in 2. IT felt slightly weird, but regularly people would appear around the building in a golf cart, get out and play out the hole. I made a joke and said to Ingrid that this must be the 10th hole (Sucked it out my thumb). While staring into nothing a while later I saw a sign saying, "This way to the 11th". Ingrid asked me how I knew it was the 10th hole? I did not it was just a wild guess.

That brings me to point number next... We saw a seagull land on the course and somehow my mind went left..Why do they name shots under par a birdie, an eagle and an albatross? I am going to google that now. So Mr Google says that a bird in former times was a synomym for "cool or excellent". An eagle is a bigger bird and keeping with the bird theme an Albatros was the next best thing. Never to old to learn.

Okay so we is sitting (on purpose) at the coffee shop and I said to her, the coffee and cake was taking a long time.It is not such an extensive or complicated order. She remarked that there was a warning on the menu that things might take a while. I must have missed the fine print. So we chatting and chatting and I remarked that due to current weather conditions I thought that I would start reading that book that I had brought with me. "Oh. FInally", Ingrid says. Enter the waitress with the coffees on her tray. Ingrid had not yet realised that the waitress had perceived that she was commenting on the service. I quickly explained to the poor lass that it was not about the service and then Ingrid twigged. Shame she went red. The coffee was good and the cakes were very good. Carrot cake for me and a Almond cake made from almond flour. Very nice ladies and gentlemen.

So we are walking back to the car and they have some lovely little boutique shops in this part of the Village, the Old Village, as it is referred to by locals (We is local bru). She takes a sharp right into one such store and I had an idea that this was not going to end well for the credit card or budget. I can not lie, but it was a seriously classy. Simple but classy. Ingrid ordered a take away. One cotton/linnen Dunagree outfit to go! Such nice things in that shop. An Ingrid shop.

After a short stop at the bottle store for a bottle of white wine and the bakery for a vegetable lasagne, we headed back to Jackpot and we were already well into the afternoon. I needed to rest for tonights time trial (Wink) and headed to lala land. Ingrid read on the couch. After couch was tea and a bit of a chat and stuff on the phone. I had a veeeery little amount of admin to do and we got that sorted. Thanks Bo for your help.

I am still in 2 minds about purchasing a racing malibu board from a supplier here in South Africa. I am going to sleep on it for a week or so. Tomorrow I am going to borrow a board from someone to use and I guess that if I feel that it is going to fulfill my need I might opt to purchase one. Not sure and will have to sleep on it. My Cape Town best friend says that if it costs less than 1 patient vist, then I should not even think about it, I should just hand over the credit card. Unfrotunately it will cost more than that, but if he wants to sponsor me....heehee.

Time trial Wednseday and 17h30 we were off again in the surfskis around the canals here in St Francis Bay. It is a weekly timed 5km and I try to be there every week. Test me against me. There will be those that are better than me and those less proficient, so my goal is to beat my time from the last outing or at least try for a PB (Personal Best). I shaved another minute off my PB. Each week I seem to get a little better.

We wined and dined tonight and now it is once again time for bed.

PS: Jennifer, safe travels tomorrow!
