Another day in Paradise.

9 maart 2024 - Cape St Francis, Zuid-Afrika

Brother and dog slept over last night. Accoding to those weather people we were going to be in for antoher treat today. Almost a puff of wind, sun and a cloudless sky. Another Peach! We were for some reason a little lazy this morning and did not get up at sparrows, but perhaps a little later. Coffee as per usual is the first treat of the day. We missed sunrise today, but it was not less enjoyable on the deck with a cup of brew. Puzzle time for he trained professional and Justin was at it bright and early. He says that the light is good for doing puzzles and that we probably need it with this besat (  A male lions head - tricky she is).

Sooner than later we were all in the car including doggy Riley. Off to the beach to check out the conditions for brother to go dive. At the first dive site the tide seemed to be too low to afford good diving conditions. So too for the other dive site which we walked to to see if conditions were good to attempt a dive. The tide was too low and brother calculated that this afternoon would probably be better.

Off in the VW bus to Grannyś pools for a coffee and we ended up staying for a little brekkie. Too good this day was turning out to be. Back at home I had decided to go for a paddle from in front of the house to the main beach, catch a few waves, and then make my way back to where Ingrid, Justin and doggy were sitting. At brekkie we sat at the same table as a couple of Poms (English persons from England). We had an interesting chat. They had bought an appartment here 25 years ago and come over every winter (english) for 3-4 months, much like Ingrid and I are thinking of doing. It was good to hear that if circumstnaces allow, we might be able to do  the same.

We try to get in early in  the day to avoid sunburn, but due to circumstance we were a little later than usual on the beach. It was another Peach! Just what one would order! Sublime!. I made it through the break this time on the surfski without a hiccup and headed off to main beach to catch a wave or two before heading back. I had a little altercation with a sufrer who thought that I should beat it as it was dangerous in my craft and I should perhaps move on.

It peeved me as I thought that just as much as I should respect him as a surfer, he should respect me as a surfskier. I have been around the block a few times and things may not always go according to plan, but today the waves did not seem to be intense enough for him to warrant this request.  I told him that I was only interested in catching 1 more wave and then I would move on, but I caught another 3. (Defiant me)

I thought that if he altered his minddet and as thought that all of us were there for a good time and not malicious minded, his day would be better. I was not phased. Live and let live. After my 3 extra waves I paddled back to Kingyś beach where Justin, Ingrid and doggy were lazing on their towels.  Justin and I had a little body surf and he won King of the beach by making it further toward the beach on the wave. Not much in it, but a win is a win!

Justin and doggy walked home and I stayed on the beach with Ingrid catching some Benny's (Tanning). We had another swim and then made our way home with the surfski over my shoulder. Time for some coffee and another go at the puzzle. (Have I mentioned that this one is a bee with an itch (Bitch).  Progress was made.

Just before the afternooner Ingrid laid the last piece and this completed a frustrating and difficult process! Well done Team! Brother is actually a puzzle Master, I have to give him that. So off to sleep and then brother wished to go for that dive and he left us with doggy and went off in search of green pastures. Not at A, not at B, so he was going to go to C and would also do the shopping as Point C was near the Vilalge and the supermarket.

We got stuck with doggy who loves her Dad and let us know that she was unhappy. Nothing that we could do but wait. Justin finally phoned and we arranged to meet at main beach to enjoy the scenery and perhaps a beer. Doggy jumped eagerly into our car as I guess that she sensed that something was going to happen.

Boys an girls believe me when I say that the evening was absolutely perfect. A whisper of wind and temperatues to die for and a clean, clear sea. Lapping it up we were under the quite accompanyment of a beer. It was just to good to have to say, Time to go home. I guess if we had been able to order a braai on the beach we would not have moved. A braai on the deck was no less enjoyable. It has been just another wonderful picture perfect and thoroughly enjoyable day! We rocked it!

The braai was executed to perfection and the stars were in the heavens and load shedding was upon us!  A perfect evening in Africa!

Brother and doggy have taken a matress and are sleeping out on the deck.  Tomorrow we are expecting much of the same as today weather wise.

Can't wait although I have to admit that I do feel the aftermath of our morning sun on my cheecks tonight.
